Serious wine connoisseurs need more than a corkscrew to open fine wine. Function Engineering helped develop an efficient alternative to the old-fashioned corkscrew.

The Vigneto Wine Opener is effortless to use: simply position it over the top of a wine bottle, push the lever down and then lift to remove the cork. Another push of the lever releases the cork from the opener. Function developed a unique non-circular gear that increases mechanical advantage as the screw deepens into the cork. Design activities included conceptual design and mechanism design. The product received patent D445,008 for its elegant design.
