Shrinking a fully-functional computing platform into a handheld device requires exacting design for optimum usability - especially for the mechanical components.

Function Engineering developed a simple-to-use data cradle that would conform to the m100's rounded base. A simple insertion makes a reliable data connection without effort. The unit was weighted for stability in its cradle position. Function, in collaboration with Palm, developed a hinged removable lid and an interchangeable faceplate system that lets users personalize their Palm's look with a simple snap. Function Engineering carried its tasks all the way through production design.
