How do air travelers enjoy a comfortable "big screen" DVD experience without disturbing their seat mates? That's the challenge Function Engineering faced with eShades. Audio/video glasses provide privacy and wide screen view, but they also present a number of engineering challenges for the designer.
Function Engineering solved the electronics packaging problem that allowed a pair of micro LCD monitors and speakers to fit into the eyeglass format. Hinges were designed and cables routed. Most importantly, comfort issues were solved through ergonomic design and balanced weight distribution on the nose and ears.
