For people on the go, protective cases for their cherished PDA's are always popular. Compaq wanted an easy-to-use and aesthetic aftermarket case for their best-selling iPaq. Their wish list included flexible elastomer hinges, transparent plastics, and a design language that could be extended to high-end jackets with memory cards and other devices.

The result is a case that is snug and protective without interfering with any of the iPaq's existing controls. A transparent screen cover with overmolded elastomer hinges can be flipped open like a book or wrapped around the back of the iPaq. Function developed a clever hinge that can be configured for right or left handed users. Integral to the hinge is an innovative snap scheme to hold the screen cover closed.
